Photos from “The Wedding”

The Amherst Garden Club’s February meeting featured Jody Gage of Fortin Gage Flowers & Gifts with a highly entertaining demonstration focused on bridal bouquets from past to present.

After Jody’s demonstration, the finished bouquets were awarded to a few lucky attendees, and then a faux wedding reception began complete with tea sandwiches, cookies, silver service coffee, and even wedding cake! Live wedding music made it complete.

Members and guests came dressed for the occasion and enjoyed sharing memories, photos, and outfits from weddings gone by.

Thank you, Doffie Farrar, for being the inspiration and main planner for this unforgettable morning and afternoon. And thank you to everyone else who had a hand in making the event what it was. There are too many to list, but you know who you are.

A Love Poem to the AGC

written by Doffie Farrar

Nine tables were set
Where our ladies all met
Each dressed to the nines
In wedding attire refined

Vintage veils and some hats
Satin dresses and flats
Bouquets with white roses
Hydrangeas and posies

The coffee and tea
Served from silver shiny
Gave the morning some jazz
Elegance and pizzazz

Sandies, chips and pink punch
Made for a fabulous lunch
Clever cookies imbibed
Grew our waist lines so wide

Two cakes on display
Sliced with skill all the way
Care and love filled the day
As friends cheered, “hip hip Hooray!”
