December 5 Holiday Wreath Workshop

Several years ago the Amherst Garden Club decided to combine our own creativity (or borrowing it from a magazine, book or friend), necessity (having a door wreath or table decoration for the holidays), and the desire to do something different for our December meeting. The Wreath Workshop was the result. It has been so successful that we are repeating it this year.
On December 5 at 9 am, we will gather in the Vestry at the Congregational Church to create our holiday decoration. While it is called a Wreath Workshop, you can decorate whatever suits you. Lois Boericke will again demonstrate how to make lovely bows to finish your creation.
Following the workshop, we will gather for a light lunch of soup, bread and dessert and will finish by 1 pm.
There is no cost for this workshop but you must bring your own supplies:
A basic evergreen wreath, wired floral picks, floral tape, needle-nosed pliers to twist wire, wire cutters and ribbon (3 yards for a small bow, 5 yards for a large bow). Bring stems of dried flowers, rope hips, pinecones and whatever else you want to use to embellish your wreath or decoration. We will supply some special greens and holly. It is great if you have extra greens or embellishments to share.
Please email Sue Spiess at to join the group for this popular program. You must sign up by November 30 so we can make the appropriate plans! Due to limited space, this is a members-only event.
