2020 Jane Martin Memorial Civic Gardens Tour

The Amherst Garden Club is excited to offer a virtual tour of the gardens we maintain around town. This tour highlights the ten garden spaces we care for, including narrated videos, history and facts, and, of course, details about the plants.

We hope that you enjoy this tour and are inspired to come visit in person! Click here for a printable map of our gardens

About the videos — All the videos were filmed in June 2020 (occasional still photos from other times are interspersed) by garden club members, not professionals! Many of the gardens are located in busy spots, so you will hear traffic noise at times. The sound of so many passing cars lets you know just how many motorists see our gardens every day!

“A Sunflower for Jane” by M.J. Bachman

About Jane Jane Martin was a devoted member of The Amherst Garden Club, greatly admired for her positive attitude and generous spirit. In her role as Membership Chair, Jane came up with the idea of taking all new members on a tour of our civic gardens. We lost Jane in 2018, but we continue her tradition of an annual civic gardens tour, now named in her memory.

A Floral Tribute For 2020, the garden club commemorated the 19th Amendment Centennial by planting yellow, purple, and white flowers — the colors of the suffragette movement — in our civic gardens.
