On April 14 — Earth Day — the Amherst Garden Club participated in the Souhegan Sustainability Fair, an event dedicated to promoting socially and environmentally responsible living.
Organizer Nancy Head did a great job setting up our booth and recruiting helpers. Our theme was invasive plants, and thanks to Anne Krantz there was an in-depth display — including descriptive posters, handouts, and even sample plants.
Club members Nancy Hokinson, Becky Stoughton, Anne Krantz, Joan O’Brien, and Nancy Head interacted with the visitors, answered questions, and generally spread the goodwill of the club to the surrounding community.
With a variety of exhibits, demonstrations, vendors, food, live music, presentations, and hands-on workshops, the fair itself was a big success.
