Busy Week for the AGC!

Wow!  What an exciting kick-off to the “new year” for the Amherst Garden Club!

First came the daytime meeting, with a delightful frog fruit bowl, tips and a demonstration on growing bonsai by David and Myrla Bryant of New Hampshire Bonsai, and a heartwarming presentation by teacher Karin Alger of the Mont Vernon Village School, where students raised pumpkins in raised beds to raise funds (!) with assistance from a grant from the AGC Charitable Fund.  Oh, and Susan Kierstead got rid of a 10″ long snake that was trying to sneak into the meeting through the front door!

Next, there was a great turnout at the evening meeting, where Susan Kierstead told us how to “put our gardens to bed” for the winter, and Marti Warren talked about how to plant bulbs now for a beautiful spring bloom!
