Amherst Garden Club is for the birds in January!

Thursday, January 8 @ 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM

The Amherst Garden Club will be featuring two speakers on feeding and attracting wild birds to your yard at their January 8 meetings. Judi Burger, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Nashua, has worked in the bird feeding industry for the past 18 years. She is a nature enthusiast and has turned her backyard into a habitat for the birds with over a dozen feeders. She is currently taking classes in Ornithology from Cornell University to expand her knowledge and love of nature. She will speak to the four aspects of attracting birds to your yard. Judi will be the speaker for the daytime meeting at the Messiah Lutheran Church on Route 101 in Amherst. The meeting starts at 9:00 am with the speaker starting at 10:15 am. Guests are always welcome. If inclement weather, the meeting will be cancelled if Amherst Schools are cancelled; if there is a school delay, our meeting will be as scheduled.

The evening meeting of the club will take place at Parkhurst Place at 11 Veterans Road in Amherst starting at 7:00 pm. The speaker for this meeting will be Gene Harrington from Nashua Farmers Exchange. Gene will be speaking on “Feeding and Caring for your Backyard Birds”. Gene and his wife Judy are owners of the exchange, where their mission is to bring to the consumer top quality nutrition for animals as well as plants. Gene holds a degree in both Wildlife Biology and Entomology. If you enjoy attracting birds to your yard, you will want to hear this informative talk. A question and answer period will follow. Guests are welcome. If inclement weather, the cancellation will be listed on WMUR-TV and posted on the AGC website.
