From Jeanne Nevard:
Don’t forget to arrive early for the Pepperell Garden Club’s annual plant sale on Saturday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, rain or shine. The sale will take place at a new, spacious location at the Pepperell Senior Center, 37 Nashua Rd., Rte.111, Pepperell. Billed as one of the largest & most popular plants sales in the area, it is known for its hardy members’ dug plants, annuals, locally grown veggies & herbs, shrubs, ground covers & much more.
Some of the outstanding offerings include: “Garden Groupings” a collection of selected trays for either sun or shade locations. It’s an easy solution to fill in an existing landscape, or a “garden to go”.
And new this year, will be a “Native Plants” table.
Some desirable offerings include: Mayapple, Virginia bluebells, yellow-root, northern sea oats, cimicifuga, bloodroot, and bearberry to name a few.
Many old time favorite perennials hand dug by members’ include:peonies, globe thistle, ligularia, fleeceflower, sedums, cranesbill geranium‘ Biokova’, astilbes, a variety of hybrid daylilies and so much more.
Shrubs and trees may also be purchased at extremely reasonable prices. They include: Hydrangea lacecap ‘Serrata’, doublefile viburnums, dwarf summersweet, boxwood, sweetspire, lilacs, etc.
As always, club members are on hand to offer their advice for your garden design questions, plant choices, combinations and solutions to beautify your landscape.
Please, no early birds, as the members are working hard to set up the sale. Bring your own trays if you like; box trays will also be available.
The plant sale is the sole fundraiser for the Pepperell Garden Club. Funds from the sale are used for numerous beautification projects: plantings at the rotary, Main St., and Town Hall, containers throughout the town, holiday greens and wreaths on public buildings, and scholarships for local students.
